The Chocolate Train runs between Montreux and the Cailler-Nestle chocolate factory in Broc. This panoramic train travels its route during the summer season, from May to October. The panoramic railway, and in particular the Train du chocolat - is a must-see on a trip through Switzerland. Of course, it is not only for true chocolate lovers.

Switzerland is famous for its various delicacies, which have been produced by its inhabitants for centuries. Everyone has probably had the opportunity to taste the local chocolate, which is considered the best in the world. The taste of Swiss cheese is almost legendary. So how does one travel around this country to discover all these awesomeness? But wouldn't it be better to board the Swiss 'Train du chocolat' amidst the picturesque Alpine landscape? Cheese, chocolate and railways are the markers of a tourist journey called the 'Chocolate Train' (Train du chocolat).

The chocolate train is an attraction with which you can plan a full-day rail excursion between Montreux - Broc - Montreux with a stop in Gruyère. It is a journey not only to the rhythm of chocolate, but also of Swiss cheese. The journey on this train offers passengers a visit to the House of Gruyere cheese, the castle of the Dukes of Gruyere with a crane in its coat of arms and the Cailler-Nestle chocolate factory in Broc.

On the train, the passenger has a modern, panoramic second-class carriage or Pullmann carriage, where the seats are padded with plush. Accompanied by carpets and wood finishes, they are reminiscent of the Belle Époque era. Certainly, in this luxurious carriage, every passenger can feel like an aristocrat from the turn of the 20th century, if only for a moment.

Gruyere Castle

Montreux and Gruyère are an hour's train journey away. Along the way, the traveller has time to admire the Swiss Highlands and the beautiful mountain ranges accompanied by green valleys. Situated in the surroundings of the Alpine pastures and the Gruyère castle, the cheese factory invites you to discover the secrets of the production of genuine Swiss products. The traveller will be able to observe the making of Gruyère cheese from behind a glass window and, most importantly, taste its characteristic flavour.

The next stage of the journey - within the walls of Gruyère Castle - intertwines eight centuries of history and culture. For this medieval building brings together architectural elements from the Renaissance and Baroque eras, creating a residence with scenic loggias, a beautiful courtyard and a French-style garden.

The entire alpine landscape is complemented by the view of the summit of Vanil Noir (2398 m).

After a break to visit Gruyère Castle, passengers on the Chocolate Train are transported to Broc. There, another pleasure served during the journey on this extraordinary railway awaits travellers. The chocolate factory. Here, you can not only learn about the history of its creation - which sometimes goes back to the story of cocoa beans imported from South America - but, above all, you can personally taste the 30 or so varieties available at the tasting.

This journey by rail lasts eight and a half hours. When leaving the factory's thresholds, the passenger 'takes' this unique smell and taste of chocolate with them. The air in Broc smells of chocolate. After such a wonderful 'finish' to the journey, the passenger can go to the Broc - Fabrique railway station, where the 'Train du chocolat' pulls up, and return to Montreux.
